Quran 70:1 Surah Ma'arij - Nadr Ibn Al Harith

Nadr was an arab quraishi that traveled a lot to persia , he was what you would call an educated arab which was kinda rare at the time , he was also a Doctor , he learnt a lot about persian mythology and religions , about zarathoustra and persian kings .Seems like a decent fellow right .

So he returned to mecca when Mo was beginning his preaching for the new religion , now nadr is an intelligent man , he immediatly recognized that the stories Mo was telling were just borrowed from ancient myths and midrash/bible stories .

He confrontd Mo with this , basically told him you're just telling us bullshit ,challenged him a number of times with tricky questions about the soul and other things , and of course Mo's responses weren't really convincing , actually there are a lot of verses in the quran that are referencing the challenges nadr put on Mo .

Mo was furious , this guy alone was screwing him over , he was smarter than him , and telling better stories also .

Time passes by , Mo migrates to al medina , starts pillaging caravanes , you know the usual stuff , badr comes in , muslims win , they take a bunch of hostages , you guessed it , amongst them was nadr ibn al harith .

Now Mo actually took ransom for pretty much all the prisoners , except three , ibn alass his daughter husband , nadr ibn al harith and a close friend of nadr who used to participate in nadr public humiliations .

At the end , he was beheaded by ali in front of the prophet and his companions , it was clear that Mo was holding a special grudge against this man , not because he mistreated him (otherwise why not behead all the prisoners they were all meccans who treated him badly) , but he was intellectually superior to him and smarter , and he made him go through very embarassing moments in mecca .

This story teaches us the origin of what we see now and seen through history of islam , criticizing and using your brain againt the theology of islam and all religions actually , is the weapon those religions are most afraid of , islam in particular and salafists/islamists won't hesitate to kill anyone who attacks the dogma , because it is frail , it doesn't hold against the power of the free mind , nadr was a free and educated man , and he was beheaded because he embarassed the prophet of islam , if this is what Mo did , how can we expect from today's salafist to do any less , everything you see today has an origin in islam's history .
